SYTYCD season 6 - competition finale

Here is why Kathryn should win: She is fearless. She approaches everything she does with attacking style. Her body moves in pretty much any direction - limbs everywhere. And she's a gorgeous dancer. Loved her in that samba. Since she was so fantastic, I was able to completely ignore Ryan.

Here's why Jakob should win: He has not made even one tiny misstep. He has been perfect the entire season. His leaps and turns are amazing.

Here's why Russell should win: He is a krumper and by watching him, you would never know he doesn't have any dance training. In 6 seasons of this show, no one has surprised me more.

Here's why Ellenore won't win: She has been fantastic the whole season, but what she drew tonight didn't show her off enough.

Let's talk about Kathryn & Jakob's contemporary routine. That was amazing! That was the best partner work this season, maybe ever on this show. These two are both such beautiful dancers. Seeing them together in a piece like this is a real treat...and you know how I like treats. If one of these two doesn't win, I will be stunned. Great choreography by Desmond and Dwight. Pause the blog, I have to watch it again now.

I always love a Travis Wall contemporary routine, I just wish Ellenore & Russell had danced it. Ashleigh & Ryan were OK, but I just don't like them. Ryan is so cheesy! And what is wrong with Ryan's eyebrows? He wears so much make up, even for a ballroom dancer!

I don't get it. 2 extra dancers in the finale and half the time. No solos, no boys/girls routines, no group routine? It was so rushed it wasn't as fun to watch. Solos are a really important part of the final competition show and the group routines are often the most fun part of the season. Bummer.

I have heard this same sentiment from several people about the season. I just haven't really gotten excited about the season or connected as much with the dancers. I think it's because they didn't give us a chance to miss the show. Plus, jamming it into a busy fall schedule has given a rushed feel to the whole season. Cat's even talking fast. We haven't really seen much personality from the dancers, choreographers or Cat. I don't like it. Too many changes. Who moved my cheese? Please Fox, just make this the summer treat I love again!

SYTYCD season 6 - Top 8

Sorry for the delay. I was at a really fun Christmas party last night. Also, I'm not commenting on everything.

Top to bottom, best performance show ever! They had the best choreographers and they all put amazing routines on the floor. The only thing that tainted it was Ashleigh's whining that they wouldn't let her dance (hello, insurance?) and another horrible solo and plea for Ashleigh's return by Ryan. I'm really over Ryan, Ashleigh and Legacy. They're just not as good as the rest. I thought I was done with Mollee too, until that vienese waltz with Jakob.

MOLLEE & JAKOB / Vienese Waltz / Jason
Breathtaking. Adam was right...I could have watched that for 2 hours. I really thought that Mollee was going to look out of place in a mature routine with a superior dancer, but she was good. Loved her costume too.

ELLENORE & LEGACY / Contemporary / Travis
Loved the choreography. I'm really glad Travis is showing a different, more aggressive side (as much as I have loved his other routines). Unfortunately, I couldn't get as excited as I would have liked because of Legacy. Totally overmatched by his partner.

KATHRYN & RYAN / Cha Cha / Jason
That was the hottest cha cha ever on this show. Kathryn was transformed into a different woman. She was fearless and super hot. Jason is definitely my favorite ballroom/latin choreographer. Luckily for Ryan (and me) I was so mesmerized by Kathryn that I didn't even notice him.

Let's talk about RUSSELL. Why does that poor guy keep losing his partner at the last second? Adaptability...another reason to give him props. He is so fun to watch. Like Schech pointed out, he's kind of this season's Twitch. Amazing in his own style...you'd never expect him to be able to adapt so well to other styles...so exciting to watch his evolution as a dancer on this show.

If Ellenore, Kathryn, Jakob and Russell aren't in the finale, I might have to stop watching. Of course, that's an idle threat.

RESULTS SHOW
I can't believe Ellenore and Mollee are in danger and Ashleigh got through on a sympathy vote. Ridonkulous. What was that Wonder Girls performance? Are Americans seriously supposed to like that? Legacy's solo was so cool - he spun for 30 seconds straight.

Mollee looked genuinely surprised and sad to be eliminated. I have to think all the girls thought they were in for the last 24 hours since Ashleigh didn't dance. That's a crappy deal. I don't think Ashleigh should have been eligible. If you can't dance, how can you get votes? And if she can't dance tomorrow and the next day, is she still in or does Mollee come back? I guess it really is a popularity contest. I honestly think both Ashleigh and Ryan made the finale because they are married. The teenage girls who are voting are suckers for a romantic love story. Ugh! Such good performances last night and now I'm left with an icky feeling about 2 of the dancers in the finale. I'm going to make sure I have a bucket ready for when they dance together next week.

Oh, side note...I read in US Weekly that season 5's Jason and Jeanette are an item.

Legion of Extrordinary Dancers

What was that? Unbelievable! Two questions... (1) How do people even discover bodies can move like that? (2) How do you choreograph something like that? More please!

Results
  • I guess people were still voting for couples because the bottom 2 boys and girls were paired together last night. If Kathryn goes home over Noelle, I'll scream.
  • Noelle, please straighten your legs when you dance! I don't really trust Adam's casting judgement anymore. He just told Noelle he would hire her. For what?
  • Ugh! I can't believe we had to watch that solo from Ryan again. As if it wasn't bad enough once.

Mia Michaels has left SYTYCD? How did I miss that?

http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2009/11/mia-michaels-may-return-to-sytycd-doesnt-have-cancer.html

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE - Season 6 Top 10

Time for the couple shake up. Mostly I'm excited to see some new pairings. I think Noelle has hung on the longest because of her partner getting votes. Depending on who she's paired with, she could really be in trouble.

Whoa! Jumping right into the dancing with no video package and no commercial. I've never seen that. Must have a lot of show to get to.

NOELLE & RYAN
Hip Hop / Tabitha & Napoleon
The first half of the routine was way too close to the season 3 Mandy Moore routine by Neil and Sabra, and not nearly as good - though I don't think I could like much of anything better than I like watching Neil dance. Once they got away from the desk it got a little better, but I was underwhelmed. For me, Tabitha & Napoleon have gotten really stale - except the group routine at the beginning of last week's results show, which I never would have guessed they choreographed. How about a hiatus for them and we bring Shane Sparks and Dave Scott back more often? Oh yeah, the dancers. Ryan is NOT a hip hop dancer. Not so good. BUT, I'll bet Adam gushes about how "freakin hot" it was.
Smooth Waltz / JT & Thomas
That was a gorgeous routine, but these two bore me. I think they're both in trouble tonight. With legs as long as Noelle's, she has to work extra hard to make them look good, but she's not doing it. It never looks like they are quite straight - in this or in her solo tonight. Early on, I thought Ryan could win this thing, but the other boys are just too good and he hasn't really gotten better in the past few weeks. Adam thinks this is a "power partnership"? Really? I don't see it.

ASHLEIGH & LEGACY
Contemporary / Gary Stewart
I used to think I didn't really like the video packages before the performances, but I'm feeling really lost tonight. The intro to this routine was cut off coming out of the commercial, so I didn't hear who the choreographer was and without knowing the story or vision behind the piece, I'm not sure I enjoyed it as much. Mostly, I think the dancers did a good job and that was obviously a very physically demanding routine. Actually, I think Ashleigh was fantastic. She continues to surprise me. But, there were a few parts where I wasn't sure if Legacy was missing choreography or not hitting things hard enough, or if that was part of the routine. On top of it all, this is a new choreographer to the show. I'm left scratching my head on this one. The headstand at the end was cool.
Hip Hop / Dave Scott
Ooo, ask and I shall receive...Dave Scott. I was right to ask for that. That was some great hip hop. This just shows that you can have a theme/story in hip hop without being cheesy or acting out the lyrics to the song. The routine was a bit understated, but I liked it. Ashleigh and Legacy came with the right amount of intensity. I would have liked to see a trick or two from Legacy. The judges comments are confusing me...they loved the Tabitha & Napoleon routine, but thought this didn't have enough dancing? I don't get it.

KATHRYN & NATHAN
Broadway / Spencer
Well that was fun. I should preface that by saying that since I love Danny Kaye and White Christmas they could have stood there and I would have enjoyed it. This made me want to turn on White Christmas (which I love). In fact, I think I might just do that after the show. Kathryn can definitely pull off old Hollywood. Though he danced this well, I think I might be bored with Nathan. I'm going to pause on that judgement until after his second dance and his solo tonight, but I don't care for his immaturity.
Rumba / Melanie & Tony
Didn't like anything about this. I didn't buy the performance. There was no chemistry. I didn't like the music or costumes. Think they got a bad draw. Glad for them that they had a good first routine.

ELLENORE & JAKOB
Quick Step / Melanie & Tony
Yeah, they should hoist that trophy at the end. I would expect nothing less than perfect from these two and that was pretty fantastic. My two favorite parts of the choreography were when they separated from each other but held their arms as if they were in a closed hold, and I loved the tap time step. I don't know enough to spot if the technique was there, but I thought the dancers were great.
Contemporary / Sonya
I'm not even going to comment on this. It was just too good. Sonya must have been so excited to get these two. One of the best routines of the season! Incredible!

MOLLEE / RUSSELL
Lyrical Jazz / Mandy Moore
I love Mandy Moore. She brings out only the good 80s & 90s songs and always brings a fresh approach to the choreography. Onto the dancers. I like this pairing, but I'm a bit befuddled. There were some moments that were really clunky, then there were parts that were danced beautifully. I think the clunky is coming from Mollee. I think she would excel in Sonya's choreography. Russell is awesome. I am so impressed with him. Ooo, and they were able to save a few bucks by putting Russell in the same wardrobe as last week.
Jive / Anya & Pasha
As soon as I heard jive for these two, I was excited. That was just fun. Perfect routine for the energy of these two. They were able to just let go and have fun and they pulled it off so well.

SOLOS
  • I don't always love Mollee's "choreography" in her solos because she just throws trick after trick, but I do appreciate her fearless style. She may turn out to be an innovative performer and choreographer in the future.
  • I sometimes forget that Russell is a krumper because he's adapted so well to other styles. That solo was slammin, and I don't really like krumping.
  • Ryan, way too much make up!
  • Looks like Kathryn gets that crying thing from her mom.
  • OK, maybe I'm not done with Nathan. Great solo, and it seems like he's a bit humbled this week.
  • Ellenore is so cool. She's just the kind of person I want to be friends with.
  • We finally get to see a solo from Jakob and I loved it. He is such a beautiful dancer.
No comment on Cat tonight. She always looks gorgeous, but nothing of note tonight.

SYTYCD - special weekend edition

Sorry I've been a bit M.I.A. Between travel and a really big cake, this fall season has me struggling to keep up. It's Sunday night and I'm finally watching the top 12 show. Just a few notes and random musings.

1) Neither hip hop routine had much hip hop in it (Mollee & Nathan's telephone, Karen & Victor's LaurieAnn number), and consequently, both were boring.

2) Yes Adam, we "know what you mean" because you spell everything out in excruciating detail.

3) Can Can? Really? Good attempt, but blah! Loved the lindy hop.

4) Both of Sonya's numbers were fantastic. She is amazing.

5) I loved Tyce's blank canvas contemporary routine danced by Noelle and Russell, and I loved that Katee was his assistant in the choreography video. Unfortunately, Noelle's knickers were so distracting!

6) I don't get the judges' infatuation with Karen. I don't think there's anything particularly special about her, and they are always just gushing over her.

7) Eating my words from the first week about Ashleigh. She has really surprised me this season. She and Jakob are great.

8) Adam is so annoying and doesn't add any value to the judging panel. Wonder what he's doing for Nigel to get that job...

9) Where is Mia?!?!?! I appreciate the heavy dose this season of Travis Wall and Wade Robson, but I miss Mia. Wasn't that the point of not having guest judges, so they could choreograph more?

10) Cat...always gorgeous!

RESULTS SHOW:
I can't figure out why people aren't voting for Ellenore and Ryan.
Nigel's comment about Karen "giving up" on her solo is exactly what I thought when watching her. It really bugs me to think exactly what Nigel says.
Victor's solo was fantastic, but with being in the bottom so many times, it will be hard to beat Ryan and Nathan.
Shakira is gorgeous. I loved her performance, outfit and dancers.

I went to the live show last weekend. The dancing was fantastic, of course. The super cheesy banter between numbers wasn't. It was horrible. I'm pretty sure both Ade and Jeanine were injured...neither danced enough. Also, Caitlin was the "extra" girl and Phillip was the "extra" guy. Caitlin danced the whole show, but Phillip was only there for "comic" interludes about the horrible russian folk routine. He didn't dance at all. I didn't get it.

If you aren't watching Glee, start now. It's fantastic!

SYTYCD season 6 - Top 20 + elimination

It's late and I'm leaving town early in the morning, so I'm keeping it quick tonight.

Too many changes, too much chaos. I'm so disappointed Billy Bell is out. He's such a beautiful dancer. I hope he's back next season. I am also disappointed at how over-produced the show has gotten. Cat looks gorgeous. (I might just copy and paste that sentence every week.)

Channing & Phillip - Jive / Jason
Rockin Robin might be one of the dumbest songs ever. Nice choice Jason. I like this duo. Think they might be good in the next few weeks. As I suspected, Phillip is the tapper that might do OK.

Ashleigh & Jakob - Broadway / Tyce
Ashleigh just can't seem to catch a break, or any attention when on stage. She's constantly over shadowed by Ryan and now by Jakob. I liked the routine and Jakob is an amazing dancer. They need to pair her with the most boring male dancer.

Ariana & Peter - Hip Hop / Tabitha & Napoleon
I was so distracted by the gold lame pants that I couldn't see much else. They were so boring. Neither had any personality. With the judges booting someone tonight, we may not see them dance again.

Noelle (Melanie) & Russell - Fox Trot / Tony & Melanie
Not only does Russell have to tackle ballroom in his first week, but now he has to adapt to a new partner at the last second? Maybe not the best technically and he missed a few steps, but that krumper can dance! How do you spell krump/crump? I'm liking Russell. I hope Noelle makes it back.

Bianca & Victor - Contemporary / Travis
Victor looks a lot like Dmitri.
Sorry Mia and Wade...I have a new favorite choreographer! Are you kidding? These two hit the jackpot on the first show! I have not been a fan of Bianca through a few seasons of auditions, and I loved this. Another beautiful contemporary dancer in Victor.

Karen & Kevin - Cha Cha / Tony & Melanie
Not much to say here. I like Kevin, so I want him to be good. I didn't like this. It was just boring. Boring song, boring choreography, boring performance.
Good opportunity to bring up Glee. If you are not watching Glee, go back and watch it. Best new show in years.

Ellenore & Ryan - Contemporary / Sonya
Love this pairing. Love the routine. Love the performance. Love the whole package - the characters, choreography, music, costumes, make up...
This is a bit of a bold statement, but I think Ryan can win.

Pauline & Brandon - Smooth Waltz / Jason
They did well. Some cool lifts. They should be good to go. Don't have much else to say. Look forward to more from them.

Kathryn & Legacy - Hip Hop / Dave Scott
Now don't tell me he got this style in a random draw. I like Dave Scott. This was fun. Not sure about this pairing, though. I think he's one of the weakest dancers outside his own style and she's flat. The crying, the boring interview in the video package, the wide deer-in-the-headlights eyes. She definitely looks better dirtied up.

Mollee & Nathan - Disco / Doriana
Holy crap! Doriana really brought it. That was fast, fun, hot and hard. Amazing lifts. Nearly rivals Brandon and Jeanette from last season. I didn't used to get excited about disco/Doriana, but she's done some great routines. I loved it!

ELIMINATION
Surprised it's Russell dancing and not Peter. Hmmm... Loved Pauline's solo. Glad she's staying. I was confused by Nigel's statement that she dances with a lot of charisma but not passion. I don't get it. Not sad to see Ariana go. Like that they are going to let Brandon audition again.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE - Season 6 Opener

IT'S BACK!!!!!!! A new time of year. A new stage. A new permanent judge. A new format (from what I can tell). 20 new dancers. Same gorgeous Cat. Are we ready for this people?

What's not to love about Wade & Amanda Robson (except that Amanda never speaks)? What a great way to start the show. I wasn't really sure about a "showcase" show to start the season, but now I'm kind of excited. Let's see if I'm still happy after a Tabitha & Napoleon routine (nope, still won't call them Nappi-Tabs).

Russell / Kevin / Legacy - Hip Hop, Tabitha & Napoleon
Loved it! Great routine. Great song. Cool tricks (loved it when Russell jumped over the other two and landed off the stage). These guys are talented. Also, Kevin is so beautiful! Can't wait to see if they can handle dancing with girls.

Nathan / Ariana / Jakob / Channing - Contemporary, Tyce
Wow! These choreographers are coming out swinging. I guess when you have dancers dancing their own styles, you have a lot more to work with. Beautiful choreography. Amazing emotion. Very cool lifts. I have loved Nathan from the first audition (well, I guess his audition last season). Good work Tyce. Mary, please stop shouting at the dancers. I'm afraid you might scare them away.

Peter / Bianca / Phillip - Tap, Derick K. Grant
Now, I want to be excited that there are tappers on this show - hell, I was a tapper back in the day - but 3 tappers? Hope they enjoyed this night, cause I'm betting 2 of them won't last the first 2 eliminations. That started out a mess. It got a bit better, but I didn't love it. I wish instead of doing a very traditional tap routine they had done something more modern to show that tap has evolved and can be relevant and entertaining. Maybe we'll see that in the future if any of them survive.

Cat just said "it's a very special episode." Is that anything like "this week on a very special Blossom..."?

Mollee / Pauline / Ellenore - Jazz, Sonya
Oh, these girls are probably in for a wild ride with Sonya in week 1. That was pretty cool. Not my favorite thing from Sonya, but I liked the vibe of it. Maybe I was just distracted by the tutus. I was also hoping to see a little more personality from the girls, but maybe they're just nervous.

Victor / Noelle / Billy / Kathryn - Contemporary, Mandy
I LOVE MANDY and I love her contemporary. She doesn't get to do contemporary enough on this show. Obviously, I loved this routine. It showcased the dancers so well. Some amazing choreography and lifts. It was intense and emotional. Billy is a beautiful dancer. I hope he's not too nerdy to be a star. I want to watch that one again.

Karen / Ryan / Ashley - Samba, Jason
Wow! A threesome with a married couple from the SLC auditions and another girl? Racy! All kidding aside, that was a really good routine. Good choreography, good song, good costumes. Unfortunately, I didn't think either of the girls had a hot latin vibe going on. Ryan did! Where's Janet Wood, I mean Jeanette from last season? He needs a hotter partner. Lacey, Heidi, Chelsea, anyone...

I don't like the new stage. I miss the stairs. The different levels gave the stage so much more dimension. This stage makes the dancers look puny. One of the things I hate about American Idol is the cheesy graphics they put on the giant screen behind the performers. Now they added the same thing here. I hate it. It's even worse when watching a visual performance. So distracting. First change: D-

Show format: From what I can ascertain from commercials and my DVR guide, it looks like the top 20 will compete tomorrow night and they will eliminate the first 2 on the spot with no voting. The guide for next week says "the 18 remaining dancers perform; two dancers are eliminated." Does this mean there's no voting again? I guess it won't be "America's favorite dancer," but Nigel's, Mary's and Adam's favorite dancer. I hope this is just the first two weeks due to World Series. I'm confused (and I don't even vote). Second change: F

New permanent judge: Unfortunately, they picked the wrong person to be a permanent judge. Adam is a nearly exact replica of Mary. His every comment is dripping with sappy emotion, his "zaniness" is way too over the top and he shouts a lot. He's a great choreographer and director, but this move makes the judging panel soooooo boring. Third change: D

New time of year: I'll watch this show anytime, but if it's the packed fall season on Fox that's driving the changes, I vote for summer only. Also, I hope it doesn't get like DWTS. That show gobbles up so much of ABC's prime time programming that they barely have time to makeover people's houses into something they can't afford to maintain. Fourth change: C

New dancers: A lot of contemporary + jazz dancers (which are basically the same) this season. I like it because I love contemporary and they're the most likely to be able to adapt to other styles. It is ironic that they keep talking about how diverse this show is becoming. Not so much. This is so early because we haven't even seen them dance with partners yet, but my first elimination predictions are Peter, Ashley, Bianca and Legacy (though the judges will try to hold onto him as long as they can).

Oh, and this has nothing to do with the show, but I have to share. I spent hours making a homemade chicken pot pie from scratch. It was ugly and didn't taste good at all. What a let down.

Until tomorrow....

So You Think You Can Dance (season 5) - Performance Finale

This is it people. Big stage, bright lights, big crowd. I hope they bring it. That said, I'm a bit apathetic about tonight's show, cause I'm so disappointed Evan's in the final. Not sure I'm going to love two short boys with cheesy facial expressions and two tall girls who are way too hot for either of those boys. And how, praytell, are they going to stretch 7 routines into two hours? That sounds like a lot of judge babble and a lot of commercials. I really hope the dancing improves my salty attitude. The good news is that Cat looks gorgeous as always. Fantastic shoes.

We open with a Wade Robson piece featuring all 4 dancers in a cheerleader/football player theme that I'm pretty sure could have been choreographed by a gang of high school cheerleaders. In fact, I think my gang of East High 1992 songleaders and I did choreograph and perform this exact cheesy fluff 17 years ago. Holla girls!!! WHAT THE F?!?!?!?!?!? Why would Wade put his name on this hot mess? Sequined togs and pink pom poms? Really? I hope they started with the worst and are moving to the best! Let me refresh your memory of the final 4 piece last year. The best final 4 dancers in five seasons - Joshua, Twitch, Katee and Courtney - choreographed by the genius Mia Michaels, great song that's now on my "super faves" playlist on my iPod (Hallelujah by Vitamin String Quartet), an all around amazing piece that celebrated the hard work and accomplishments of the dancers. In comparison, this is embarrassing. I'm really fired up. I need to calm down before I press play again. I'm going to pause and make a root beer float. You should go make one too. Mmmmm, delicious. Now I can continue.

JEANINE & EVAN - Jazz / Sonya
Puh-leez! How can I possibly take this seriously with Evan looking so dorky? Spiked hair and a ripped shirt do not make you a man. I know the point of the story was that he couldn't keep her, but his dancing couldn't even sort of keep up with her. Let me think for a second...yep, I would have liked this with Ade! Jeanine is a great dancer and is gorgeous, but overall, this was boring. Also, the stage is too big. They look puny. They should have put some depth on the stage, some platforms or something, or toned down the lighting. Adam "never saw Evan in the top 4" because he shouldn't be there!

BRANDON's solo - Very strong dancer, but a bit spastic. What's with the Jailhouse Rock cut-offs? (Oh, I guess I'm channeling my inner-Adam)

KAYLA & BRANDON - Broadway / Tyce
KA-POW! Finally something good. This was such a fun departure from the usual broadway routine. It was original, but still definitely in a broadway style and it had fantastic tricks. Kayla's legs just don't quit. It showed off both dancers nicely and they danced it well. Well, until the last 15 seconds. Both were so strong and the foite turns (sp? I can never remember how to spell french words) were great until the last two turns when Kayla lost it. She never got it back and Brandon was still on fire. What happened Kayla? BTW, she looks hot in that outfit and the long ponytail.

JEANINE's solo - Fantastic! I love that she took a very recognizable piece of tango music and danced something completely different to it. It showed her strength and passion. The pirouettes were amazing. If you didn't notice yet, I really love her. I think Adam and Travis do too.

BRANDON & EVAN - Pop Jazz / Laurieann Gibson
There's only been one good boy/boy piece in 4 seasons (Neil & Danny / Mia). They're usually really awkward. I can't imagine these two dorks doing battle will be any less awkward. Even their trash talk in the video piece was uncomfortable.
Oh, that was so nasty, and not in a good way. Yuck. I feel dirty. As I suspected, both of their tough guy attitudes were embarrassing and Brandon outdanced Evan (surprise, surprise). Shame on Laurieann for not choreographing to the dancers' strengths. I know Lauriann has a great resume, but that was just about the most cliche 90s throwback I've ever seen. "I saw that in two videos and a Levi's commercial." First one to get the movie line gets a dollar.

KAYLA & JEANINE - Contemporary / Mia
Amazing! Fantastic! Beautiful! Intense! Daring! Awesome! What other adjectives can I come up with to rave about this. I absolutely loved it - the choreography and the dancing. Mia is truly a genius. There are few artists with her vision and storytelling prowess, and even fewer in this medium. This is going to sound really cheesy, but I am consistently touched by her work.
Now, Nigel better not ruin this with some pervy comment about the girls taking off their clothes and something about "I was afraid you'd end up naked." Oh, the subtlty of the pervy comment.

EVAN's solo - I'm pretty sure that will be his best work tonight. Not good enough to win. Also, sweaty pits won't get you a lot of votes (I hope). I love Nigel's honesty! I've said it before, this is a Nigel I can get on board with.

KAYLA & EVAN - Jive / Tony & Melanie
Kayla completely lit up the stage. She danced this so big, in a good way. I really never even saw Evan in this one. Maybe that's good for him. A kiss at the end, what was that? Kudos to the wardrobe people on this show. They have managed to keep Evan's taller partners out of heels in ballroom/latin numbers. Whoa! Adam calling out the choreographers for not bringing it.

KAYLA's solo - So good. Maybe not as great as Jeanine & Brandon, but really good.

JEANINE & BRANDON - Paso Doble / Louis
Yes, they did save the best for last. Fireworks should have gone off at the end of that. It was such difficult, intense, fantastic choreography and they danced it perfectly.

Let's recap. All the dances with Evan, I hated. All the ones without him, I loved. Discuss.

I'm in a much better mood than I was 2 hours ago and didn't have to go for a second root beer float. Not the best finale, but I still love this show.

So You Think You Can Dance (season 5) - Top 6

Lil C on the panel – get ready to hear a lot of phrases you don’t understand. Nigel is scaring me – it’s like he is in my head. I’m not really comfortable with that. He’s right about no one rising above the pack yet and people voting for the choreography. People, there’s no time left. Tonight is the night to break away.

Brandon, Ade, EvanPop Jazz / Sonya
Sonya, are you kidding me with that? She is a genius! That was so inventive. It was powerful, showcased the dancers well and was overall, just cool. I only wish Brandon hadn’t fallen out of the synchronized, standing back flips. I almost like Evan after this. Almost. I was afraid he would get lost with these two guys, but he didn’t. I love that they are doing group routines in the competition show.

Jeanine & Ade
Samba / Louis
I’ve been waiting to see these two to dance together. My expectations are high… Yep, they’re good together. They look hot. For a second I was thinking it’s hard for Jeanine to not be hot, then I remembered the Russian folk routine from a few weeks back – ugh! Back to tonight. Unfortunately, it was choppy and not the best samba technique. Let’s talk for a second about the song – Love Game. As soon as the song started, I was wondering how they were possibly going to justify using it on network at 8 PM. Did you catch what they did – bleeped out “stick”.

Hip Hop / Tabitha & Napoleon (I refuse to call them Nappy-Tabs)
I don’t really know what to say. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. Thinking these two had a bit of a tough go tonight and I don’t like it. I want them in the finals, but not sure if this will do it.

Melissa & Evan
Broadway / Tyce
I’ve been done with both of these two for a few weeks now. They should have been eliminated last week. That said, I really have no comment on them tonight.

Quick Step / Louis
This comment is going to come off really rude, I guess because it is. It looks like a kid dancing with his mom. The choreography was great, this is just an awkward pair. I really hope they’re done.

Kayla & Brandon
Contemporary / Stacey
Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Very nice work, Stacey. It’s great to see two contemporary dancers dance a good contemporary routine with good music. It was powerful, intense, and intimate without being gross. I think I’ll watch it again now. Amazing!

Disco / Doriana
I’m not sure Doriana will ever top the routine she did for Janette & Brandon earlier this season, but that was really good. It was fun, high energy and had good tricks. Solid. Lil C is a bit off his game tonight. Until now, I have understood everything he said. Now this is the Lil C I’m used to.

Side notes about Brandon – I have not been a fan from the beginning, even though his dancing is amazing. I finally figured out why. He is such a powerful, masterful dancer. He is so masculine when he dances. In contrast, his off stage persona is soft and insecure. He even said it in the video package tonight. I have such a hard time reconciling the two. I still love to watch him dance, just don’t want to hear from him before or after. Oh, and his smile is just like Donny Osmond’s.

Kayla, Jeanine, MelissaPop Jazz / Sonya
Here’s what I love about Sonya. She asks her dancers to do ridiculous things with their bodies, and no one hesitates. Her rehearsals must be brutal, but the outcome is so worth it. Her pieces are so visually arresting – from costumes, hair and make-up to the use of the stage to the shapes she makes with bodies and her music choices are always spot on. I love it. It’s kind of Wade Robson-esque. I didn’t love this one as much as the boys, but it was pretty great.

Solos
Kayla’s solo was spastic and didn’t match the music. Not a good time for a weird solo. Rats! I really like her.
I’m pretty sure Brandon’s solo is the same one he did in his audition. Not that it wasn’t good…
Loved Jeanine’s and Ade’s solos.

Ahhhh, all’s well tonight. Nigel made his obligatory gross, pervy comments. I caught at least two.

So You Think You Can Dance (season 5) - Top 8

Big week on the show. Top 8 perform, Emmy noms abound, Ellen is guest judge and tomorrow is the 100th show (which looks fantastic). Oh, and Cat looks gorgeous as usual.

INTRO – Did anyone else notice that everyone’s intro 16 counts was horrible with the exception of Ade and Brandon? It’s like they were all in slow motion. Did Mary really just say “off the chain?” Where is she hanging out to learn such terms. Love that they’re changing up the format a bit with a group number on competition night.

TOP 8 – Fusion / Travis
I love that Travis is on the show. His piece last week was fantastic and this one was fun and creative. I look forward to so much more from him. BUT – I hate that song (Let it Rock – Kevin Rudolf).

SOLOS
Kayla gets my vote solely on her use of an Imogene Heap song. Plus, the dancing was great.
I do not understand Janette’s solo – some weird, slow Celine Dion song, a latin looking costume and something like contemporary choreography even though she’s a salsa dancer. Can anyone explain what that was?
Ade – very strong and powerful. I love watching him.
Loved Jeanine’s solo. It was a unique expression of the music and showed off her creativity and technique.

JANETTE & EVAN
Jazz / Sonya
These are the two tiniest people I’ve ever seen on this stage. Cool routine from Sonya with a lot of great partner work and lifts. Janette really stood out and Evan had to be a good partner to make it work, but I’m done with him. He bores me. Would have loved to see Kupono do this piece. Holla at ya Nigel for telling Mary to shut up!
Rumba / Tony & Melanie
Really? We have to watch Evan Rumba? This is going to be so awkward… All right, I’ll admit, it wasn’t as bad as I feared. Janette was gorgeous and Evan wasn’t a total distraction. He does look ridiculous in that costume, though. I love this Kris Allen version of Heartless.

JEANINE & BRANDON
Waltz / Hunter Johnson
I was really excited to see these two dance together. Sadly, I’m bored. The music made it so hard to get into. Nigel seems to be my buddy tonight. First he tells Mary to shut it, now we agree on our comments. This is a Nigel I can get on board with.
Pop Jazz / Laurieann Gibson
This piece had so much emotional intensity and strength, but the lack of interaction between the two really confused me. It would have been a great solo. The 10 seconds of partner work was fantastic, but just left me wanting more. Great costumes, powerful energy, good song, but the disconnection between the dancers kind of tainted it for me. I’m conflicted.
These two amazing dancers deserve better than both routines they got tonight.

MELISSA & ADE
Cha Cha / Tony & Melanie

That was not hot. Apparently “naughty ballerina” doesn’t seamlessly translate to a hot cha cha. Melissa was really distracting and boring. The choreography was strong, I just wish someone else had been dancing it. This was just not good. I still love Ade. I hate that he was in the bottom two last week. I hope he makes it through.
Contemporary / Tyce
AMAZING! Tyce is on fire tonight. That piece was packed with emotion, technique, amazing body positions by both dancers, a great song and perfect execution (not to mention the tears streaming down my face). Can you say Emmy? Congratulations to all three! Again, please.

KAYLA & JASON
Broadway / Tyce
This piece showed off the dancers really well – Jason's strength and technique, and Kayla's incredible performance/connection with the audience. I don’t know that it was really a WOW piece, but it was solid, had some great moments and they danced it well. I liked it.
Hip Hop / Shane
I normally think this show is very well produced, but this was hard to watch after being emotionally drained by the previous piece. I think if it could be separated from that, it was really good. But I won’t know until tomorrow when I watch it again. Thoughts?

I wanted to share a quick note about how I write this blog, especially since my comments tonight are nearly identical to Nigel’s (yikes, that’s a scary thought). I would hate for you to think I just sit here and regurgitate the judges’ comments. That would be stupid. I watch the video package and the routine, pause it and write my comments, then listen to the judges. If I’m confused by the judges’ comments (like if it’s 180 degrees different than what I thought), I usually watch the routine again and sometimes edit my comments.

SYTYCD season 5 - Top 12

Does anyone else think there's a Michael Jackson tribute coming? I'm guessing it will be the opening of the results show. Watching tonight at Lynn and Dustin's house, so hoping to have a few guest comments mixed in. We heard a rumor that Katie and Maggie might be going to the show this week...bitches! OK, not this week, but if you do go - we're super-jealous.

MELISSA & ADE
Disco / Doriana
Some amazing lifts, choreography and energy. Unfortunately, Melissa looked so tentative in the first half, like she was waiting for the scary lifts. Ade completely out danced her. Also, would a spray tan kill you, Melissa? But, according to Tyce, "friggin' awesome."

Waltz - Ron Montez
What is the difference between a waltz and a vienese waltz? Anyone? I absolutely love Ade. He is so strong - he dances like a man. I can't wait to see him dance contemporary. I loved the few seconds of his turns at the end - a glimpse of his greatness. These two are beautiful together. Curious to see what happens when they split up next week.

KAYLA & KUPONO
Contemporary / Mia
There it is, Mia's emotional stand out piece of the season. It was perfect - choreography, performance, costumes/make-up (or lack of make-up on her)/hair. Brilliant. I will watch it over and over. Why is Mary screaming? That high pitched squealing voice is an insult to this piece.

Broadway / Joey
Don't really have anything to say about this. It was fine. The judges comments were all focused on the fact that they didn't capture the original flavor of West Side Story. I'm guessing they might not even know what that show is. I love West Side Story - shout out to Lynnie who played Anita in West Side Story back in the day.

CAITLIN & JASON
Fox Trot / Tony & Melanie
I've had a hard time figuring out what bugs me about these two - I think it's because they are pretty much the same size. I liked the piece and the old hollywood look. This was good, but that might not be enough at this point in the competition. Their second dance is going to need to be more fun if they are going to get the votes.

Lyrical Jazz / Mandy
This should really help them. It was an enjoyable piece and they danced it beautifully. I really love Mandy and liked this piece. I'm really anxious to see them with other partners next week. I think Nigel has a point - the chemistry isn't really there with them.

JEANINE & PHILLIP
Russian Folk / Yuri Nelson & Lilia Babenko
Really, Russian Folk?????? NIGEL, YOU'VE GONE TOO FAR! KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE! Oh, crap! This is worse than I thought. Jeanine did the best she could, but nothing could really save this nightmare. At least Nigel admitted this was a mistake. If they don't get contemporary for their second number, they got gypped.

Jive / Tony & Melanie
Phillip was, predictably, a nightmare. No bounce, he looked nervous and those pants were distracting. The choreography was great - really fun, and Jeanine was fantastic. She carried the whole routine. It was great if you only watched her. She is so strong and I can't wait to see her with a stronger partner. None of us get what the judges saw that we didn't. Hmmm...

RANDI & EVAN
Hip Hop / Tabitha & Napoleon
How exciting to celebrate a shotgun wedding. I am so bored with Tabitha & Napoleon. They put out the same piece over and over! I'm not alone on this, Dustin doesn't like them either. He's now in a bad mood. How about another number with a current r&b hit, skinny jeans and sneakers and a sappy, spelled out story. Randi pulled it off, but Evan was in over his head. BORING! (Sorry, Mags. I know you and Napoleon have a special connection. Maybe you can let him know his choreography needs improvement.)

Samba / Pasha & Anya (yea, I love alums choreographing)
Maybe I would have liked this if it had been Pasha & Anya performing it. For a second, I thought it was - that is such an Anya outfit on Randi. This is not good. Brutal. A waste of a samba. It was too slow and not hot at all.

JANETTE & BRANDON
Argentine Tango / new choreographers, who's names I didn't catch
We had really high expectations for this and we all loved it. It was fantastic and I have to admit these two are really great dancers. Love the choreography, costumes and performance. Brandon is at his best when he has a character (it eliminates that weird smile). Anything that shuts the judges up is my favorite number. Oh, nevermind...they can't resist commmenting. I wish they'd left it at the standing o.

Jazz / Wade
Are you kidding me! That was ridiculous! Perfect choreography and perfect performance. They were both fantastic, but Brandon was absolutely sick! His movement quality was amazing. Props to Wade - super creative, great use of the floor, music, costumes (love the purple hair) - love it all! Also, these two are tiny. I didn't notice it before. Tiny dynamos!

These judges are absolutely crazy. Mary is, as usual, a complete nut-job (but the botox works). Tyce is the exact opposite of Lil C (Dustin's favorite judge) - he speaks completely in cliches..."1-888-FAN-FRIGGIN-TASTIC!" What the frig is that?

Shout out to the production value of the show. They do such a great job with camera angles, lighting, etc.

SYTYCD Season 5 - Top 14

Sorry for being M.I.A. the last two weeks - I've got to get the slingbox up and running (the truth is I have to switch from comcast internet as they don't allow slingbox access - I hate comcast). HAPPY BIRTHDAY LYNNIE G! Hope you had a great day!

On the judging panel tonight - the amazing Mia Michaels. The only problem with that is that there won't be any Mia choreography. The other judging issue I have this week is that the show is still two hours, but with 3 less dances than we started with - so we fill the gaps with more yapping by the judges. Last week it seemed to be monopolized solely by Nigel.

01 - JANETTE & BRANDON - Cha Cha / Jean Marc & France
I still don't like this couple personality-wise - maybe it's Brandon's corny smile and Janette's hair (can you say Joyce DeWitt, circa 1982). BUT, I can't deny they are great dancers and have chemistry as a couple. This was fantastic choreography - I loved the spins (though not as amazing as what she did in her audition) and the lift at the end was great. I'm sure we're about to hear Mary scream...yep!

02 - KAYLA & KUPONO - Contemporary / Sonya
Like Kupono, I heart Sonya. That was amazing and they danced it so well. Kayla's lines/legs are gorgeous and Kupono was so strong. This is a very hot start tonight! (Does anyone else think that based on her age, Kayla might be named after Kayla Brady from Days Of Our Lives?)

03 - RANDI & EVAN - Broadway / Joey Dowling
New choreographer to the show...I like her. Sometimes broadway can be old and stuffy, but not this one. It was fresh, sexy and fun. Randi & Evan are superstars! I expected Evan to be great in his own style, but Randi stole the show with her personality and style. Apparently the judges don't agree with my assessment - Mia was really harsh.

04 - CAITLIN & JASON - Pop Jazz / Brian
This was weird, but had some great movement. I really like Brian, but think this could put them in a precarious position tonight - especially since they've been in the bottom the last two weeks. Yikes! That said, it was crazy, but cool (my 7-year-old nephew agrees) and they danced it well. I find it interesting that most of the judges' comments were focused on things that have nothing to do with the dancers (choreography/tone of the piece, costumes). Love this song.

05 - JEANINE & PHILLIP - Hip Hop / Tabitha & Napoleon
As you know, Tabitha & Napoleon are a bit hit or miss for me. I love this piece! I love the concept and the execution. It was inventive, visually interesting and it connected. Sadly at this point, I am afraid Phillip doesn't have much more range in this competition, so I'm glad they got hip hop. I like Jeanine better and better every week. She is gorgeous and a fab dancer.

06 - MELISSA & ADE - Classical Ballet / Thordal Christensen
This was a beautiful classical ballet piece, but I'm not sure if it will connect with the audience for this show. I appreciate that SYTYCD is branching out into all dance genres, and I hope the voters respond. For not being a classically trained ballet dancer, Ade really held his own. This was well danced by both. After this piece, we got a new word from Mia - "gor-gois" (think french pronunciation).

07 - KARLA & VITOLIO - Quick Step / Jean Marc & France
As soon as I heard quick step for these two, I thought "this is going to be a disaster" - no, I actually said it out loud. It wasn't a disaster. They obviously worked hard to pull it off. The choreography was great - Jean Marc & France are on fire tonight - it had a creative story, and I loved the costume trick. HOWEVER, these two are definitely the weakest left and I doubt this will do them any favors.

Here's my take on the season so far. There's no one I love so much that I just can't wait to see them dance again. I don't have nearly the affection for these dancers as I do for last season's favorites. That said, it is a very even race. They are all really good dancers. I would have a hard time picking a favorite right now, but if you put a gun to my head, I would have to say Ade & Jeanine are my faves. What do you think?

delayed again!

Sorry guys - travelling this week and couldn't watch tonight. If only FOX would put this show online, I could blog from afar. Look for this week's post on Friday.

So You Think You Can Dance (season 5) - Top 18

Saturday night and I'm finally getting to this week's show - it's been a crazy week!

Lil C on the judging panel. Any bets on how many minutes into the show we get our first "that was buck"? I can't wait to hear his prolific, pontificating prose!

How is it that Cat gets prettier every week? She is gorgeous.

Yea! Auditions for season 6 back to Salt Lake City (where they belong).

RANDI & EVAN - Jive / Louis
Yep, that was F-U-N! This is a great couple with a lot of energy. I thought Randi really came out swinging tonight. She had so much personality in her face and movement. Based on the audition rounds, I wasn't sure she would be able to match his personality, but I was wrong. I agree with Mary and Nigel that I was expecting Evan's dancing to be better. (Ugh! I hate to say "I agree with Mary and Nigel.")

MELISSA & ADE - Jazz / Sonya
Sonya is so cool and quirky. The choreography and music was fantastic. However, I'm not sure if I'm buying Melissa in this. They were fantastic last week with a very emotional contemporary routine, but I don't think Melissa can pull off the persona needed for this. I never really got the whole "naughty ballerina" thing. It might be her personality in the video packages that I'm not liking. I like them and I hope she can range out more, because Ade is fabulous and she is a very good technical dancer. Oh, there's our first "buck" at 8:23 pm. Maybe Lil C sees something I don't.

CAITLIN & JASON - Hip Hop / Shane
I know you all love Shane, but I'm kind of hit or miss with him. This...is a HIT! It was original, had some surprises and highlighted the dancers' strengths. Jason is an amazing dancer and I can't wait to see more. Caitlin is also fantastic and her acrobatics are cool. She did have a moment like last week in the middle where she seemed to lose focus and energy. She needs to find a way to hold it together for a minute and a half each week.

JANETTE & BRANDON - Disco / Doriana
I know that disco is a 70s genre, but I'm glad to see Doriana bring something fresh to it. It was fast, fun and had great lifts. I've been missing a great routine from Doriana since the Sara/Neil disco in season 3 - finally! There seemed to be a pretty big mistake toward the end, but Janette recovered well. I wasn't really convinced about these two toward the end of the auditions and last week (like Mia and Lil C), but I'm back to liking them.

ASUKA & VITOLIO - Waltz / Louis
I love Louis' approach of making this more of a lyrical piece and tapping into personal emotion, and the music and movement reflected that. Now this is really nit-picky, but I wish their costumes had matched that same tone. Why were they in very traditional waltz costumes? Hmmm... Much improvement over last week. These two were like dead fish last week. Tonight they were beautiful. There were moments where Vitolio's technique wasn't perfect, but I can look past that. I'm so glad Louis is on this show. He must love the freedom of choreography (no rules), the quality of the dancers and exposure this show has.

KAYLA & MAX - Pop Jazz / Brian
Yea! I am so glad Brian Friedman is back. He was one of my favorite choreographers and I have missed him (but wtf is he wearing in the rehearsal?). This routine was great. I loved the characters and Kayla brought it to life in such a big way. Max was a little overshadowed, but overall, it was fab!

KARLA & JONATHAN - Contemporary / Stacey Tookey (new choreographer)
I think "Falling Slowly" might be the most covered song of the past year (with good reason - it's a great song). I wish she would have used Kris Allen's or The Fray's version instead. I like Stacey. Her choreography fits in well with the show and I look forward to seeing more. These two were deservedly in the bottom two last week and for me, the weakest link left. This was quite good, but based on what we've already seen tonight, I think they might be in trouble again. She is gorgeous and a good dancer, he is a hot little latin dancer, but I don't think they have much appeal.

JEANINE & PHILLIP - Tango / Tony
Tony, Tony, Tony...That was a pretty hard Tango for two people with no ballroom experience, and this early in the competition. It wasn't perfect, but they held their own. Unfortunately, there was something about Jeanine's posture the whole time that was really bugging me, but she still looks hot. It won't matter, though. With how popular Phillip is with the audience, they could sit in the middle of the stage and roast hot dogs for the next 4 weeks and still sail through to the top 10.

ASHLEY & KUPONO - Hip Hop / Shane
Bring it Shane! That was such a cool idea - I loved the shadow thing. These two were so good last week, but I didn't realize Ashley was going to be that strong again. The judges are right, this wasn't Kupono's best moment, but I still think they could be front runners. It lost a bit of strength in the fast part, but I liked it overall.

Nigel was not very annoying tonight. He wasn't obnoxious and actually said a few funny things.

The level of performance was so much better than last week. All the early reports for the season and some of your comments were in the camp of "the best dancers of any season." I wasn't really on board with that until tonight. That said, it's going to take a lot for this group to win my favor over last season's top 8-10.

SYTYCD post delayed

Sorry guys - no blog tonight. I opted for a very fun dinner with friends instead. I won't be able to watch until Friday afternoon. Hope the show was great. The anticipation will kill me for the next 36 hours, but alas, I have to work (and sleep now).

Welcome... to So You Think You Can Dance Season 5

I'm so excited!!! Cat is looking as gorgeous as ever and Nigel, Mary and Adam are ready to dazzle us with their (uh-uh) wisdom.

Jeanine & Phillip - Hip Hop / Tabitha & Napoleon
I really wish they would have started the show with something original. If I had to guess what Tabitha & Napoleon would do for episode #1, it would have been this song and this exact routine. In fact, we've seen this before. It's called Mark & Chelsie's Bleeding Love routine last season (similarities go even as far as Jeanine's outfit being almost identical to what Chelsie wore). I generally like Tabitha & Napoleon, but this is so cliche. The story and "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" choreography exactly follow the lyrics of the song. It's like a 5th grade talent show. I rewound it and watched again hoping I might like it better the second time, but no such luck. I can't really even form an opinion of the dancers. I'm sure they'll sail through, though, since Phillip has already had so much camera time and Jeanine is really pretty. Apparently the judges don't agree with my assessment. I think it's a little early for Mary to be screaming.

Asuka & Vitolio - Broadway / Tyce
Maybe I need to step away and get an attitude adjustment, 'cause I didn't love this either. It was fine, but didn't really blow me away. I do think these two are a great pair and we'll see some great stuff coming from them in future weeks if they stick around.

Karla & Jonathan - Cha Cha / Tony
Hmmm..... that should have been hot, but it wasn't. Karla is really pretty, but her movement was so klunky. Apparently you can't teach just any dancer to move her hips for a latin dance.

I really don't want to be so negative, but I'm waiting for this to get good!!! Maybe the judges are watching a different show than I am.

Randi & Evan - Jazz / Tyce
Getting warmer. I liked it.
Those two look tiny next to Cat and I love Randi's hair.

Paris & Tony - Hip Hop / Tabitha & Napoleon
Hope this is better than the other one... Much better. I liked it. And, nice product placement.

Caitlin & Jason - Bollywood / Nakul
I've liked both of these two throughout the auditions. I love that they are paired together. Jason was great and Caitlin had some good moments (the handstand at the beginning), but she had some not so good moments too. Maybe this routine was too hard for week one, but this isn't Dancing with the Stars, these are trained, professional-level dancers. Step it up, girl. This was not even close to as good as Katee & Josh's bollywood last year.

Janette & Brandon - Fox Trot / Louie
I don't really have much to say - positive or negative - except the lift at the end was cool. I don't have much interest in either of these two and I've had a weird feeling since the first audition that Janette would make it to the top 20, then be the first girl elimintated. I guess we'll see tomorrow.

Ashley & Kupono - Jazz / Wade
Loved it! Wade is a genius - again. That was fantastic and I really liked Ashley & Kupono. Kupono's movement quality is so cool. I'm so glad Wade is around in week 1 and can't wait to see more from these two dancers. After auditioning for the show 4 times, Ashley hit the jackpot with a fantastic partner and Wade Robson!

Melissa & Ade - Contemporary / Mandy
Are you kidding me? I love Mandy, she can do no wrong in my book. I can't even fault her for pulling Richard Marx out of the 80s sappy love song vault. That choreography was flawless and they executed it really well. So many great lifts that showed the strength of both dancers. Now this is something I would usually laugh at Nigel for saying, but the movement was so fluid that it looked like they were one. Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Did you get that I love Mandy?

Kayla & Max - Samba / Louie
Very solid samba. It had a lot of energy and Max is obviously very strong at latin. These two should be really fun to watch.

Let me judge the judges for a second: Mary actually said something funny - her botox comment. Clearly all reality show judges like to hear themselves talk, but Adam really does.

In the bottom tomorrow: Asuka & Vitolio, Karla & Jonathan, Paris & Tony, Janette & Brandon.
